To recognise International Women's Day, the Police Federation hosted a powerful conversation with the winner of our Women in Policing Award 2025, Inspector Sophie King of Sussex Police. A leader whose work embodies the 2026 theme, Give To Gain. This theme calls on individuals and organisations to embrace generosity, reciprocity, and meaningful action to advance gender equality, emphasising that giving support multiplies opportunities for women and strengthens communities. Sophie has made a transformative impact through her tailored coaching, her steadfast advocacy for wellbeing, and her leadership in tackling sexism and sexual harassment within policing. Her commitment to uplifting colleagues at all stages of their careers demonstrates how giving time, expertise, and compassion creates collective progress and long‑lasting change.

In this one‑hour webinar, Sophie shared insights from her award-winning work supporting officers across Sussex Police, highlighting real examples of how giving confidence, safety, and mentorship empowers others to thrive. Attendees heard from Sophie directly, followed by a fireside discussion with the Federation’s Hayley Aley and Louise Bishop on how all of us can contribute to a more inclusive policing environment.
