Louise Bishop
National Board Member - Police Federation
Louise is a mum of two boys aged 19 years old and 12 years old, with her partner being a serving officer. The only other female in the house is their four year old dog, a Jack-a-poo who is definitely a daddy’s girl. She likes to run and exercise and previously completed the London Marathon, albeit her post-menopausal body differs these days.
Louise has been a police officer in Norfolk since October 2000, became a Sergeant in 2007, and then Inspector in 2019. Throughout her service she has worked across the county in predominantly uniform roles and at varying times been part time and worked flexibly. As a result of the personal experiences she has had, she has been a strong advocate for equality and supporting colleagues. Louise has taken part in various worskstreams relating to womens health including Adenomyosis awareness, early menopause and uniform. For many years she was asked to be a federation representative and when doing so has found this to be incredibly rewarding and empowering. The ability to give victims of discriminatory behaviour a voice and be with them through their journey has at times been heartbreaking, but resulted in changes for the wider workforce. An example being the supporting of victims and witnesses of sexual assaults by fellow police officers. In September 2025, Louise was elected to the PFEW National Board for Region 4 which she is incredibly proud of. The work she has already prioritised relates to policies developing an accessible database of Equality information, violence against women and girls, and leadership reforms. As a line manager and federation representative she encourages a team ethos of working to each other’s strengths, sharing ideas, and empowering change to deliver service to the public. As a member of the national board she is in a privileged position to influence and negotiate changes, so that officers are supported and given the resources they need for modern policing.
