Tiff joined Leicestershire Police in 1995. Throughout her policing career as a constable, she has specialised in firearms, tactical support and frontline as a general response and beat officer.
Tiff’s Federation career started in 2007 with progression to the post of Chair of Leicestershire Constables’ Committee in 2011, until her election to Chair of Leicestershire Police Federation in 2014, becoming Leicestershire’s first female Federation Chair. Tiff was then elected to the National Board of the Police Federation of England and Wales in 2018, and elected to the post of Deputy National Chair in June 2022.
As a National Board representative, Tiff has led on conduct and performance and parliamentary engagement, seeking fairness and timeliness for members when faced with misconduct issues, and driving forward the Federation’s lobbying activity raising issues with politicians that directly affect police officers.
Tiff continues to co-lead all parliamentary engagement as Deputy National Chair, in addition to being the co-lead on all national Police Federation media, communications and campaigns. As Deputy National Chair and an official spokesperson for the organisation, Tiff champions member issues and meets with senior politicians, senior police officers and the leads from police organisations to promote member welfare and wellbeing issues. The National Chairs’ Office also has responsibility for driving forward the agreed Police Federation priorities and strategy, including the current push for a fair pay mechanism with binding arbitration.
