Sam Hawkins

Branch Secretary, Norfolk Police Federation

Sam joined Norfolk Constabulary in February 1990 and initially worked as a uniform patrol constable and subsequently a Detective Constable in the Great Yarmouth area.  She was promoted to Sergeant in 1999 and worked as a patrol sergeant and as a custody sergeant.

In 2002 on return from maternity leave, Sam worked in North Norfolk (part time) as a patrol sergeant. 2004 – she was promoted to Inspector whilst working part-time (uniform patrol) and posted to Norwich city centre.  From 2006-2017 she worked in several roles - including Community Safety, partnership working, project work, Children and Young Peoples Inspector and Special Constables and Volunteers until she became a full time Federation Representative as the Equality Lead for Norfolk Federation in 2017.

In 2018 Sam returned to full-time working and was elected as Branch Secretary, Treasurer and Equality Lead for the Norfolk Police Federation. Now additionally co-lead of the PFEW National Women’s group. Sam is due to retire from policing in early 2024.
