Research & Futures Lead - OPCSA (on secondment from the Government Office for Science)

Mike is a Research & Futures Lead in the Office of the Police Chief Scientific Adviser (OPCSA), where he is developing and supporting the policing futures ecosystem. His work focuses on fostering a culture of proactive, long‑term thinking in the face of uncertainty, and strengthening futures capability across the system. Central to this is nurturing a network of engaged Regional Futures Coordinators and leading the Police Futures Community of Interest.

Mike joins OPCSA on a six‑month secondment from the Government Office for Science’s Futures team, where he spent three years building futures capability across government.

He has an academic background in Biology and Bioengineering, and before joining the civil service, he worked as a scientist in the pharmaceutical sector for a cell and gene therapy company.
