Michael Allen

Detective Chief Superintendent

Mike served with Nottinghamshire Police for 22 years and has been a career detective throughout that time. He served in the Professional Standards Directorate between 2016 and 2019, first in the Counter Corruption Unit and then latterly as Deputy Head of PSD with delegated appropriate authority responsibilities.  After three years as Head of Serious and Organised Crime he transferred to Greater Manchester Police on promotion to Head of PSD in 2022.

In his capacity as the staff officer to both NPCC Complaints and discipline portfolio and overarching NPCC Professional Standards and Ethics portfolio, working with Chief Constable Craig Guildford Mike has responsibility for delivering the portfolio’s objectives and is a member of the Police Advisory Board of England and Wales Discipline Sub-committee.  Leading for the NPCC in the thematic area of professional standards and working closely the Home Office Police Integrity Unit in re-form of legislation and statutory guidance has necessitated an in-depth knowledge of the legal framework and a close working relationship with Heads of PSD, the IOPC, College of Policing, HMICFRS, PFEW and the PSAEW.
