Fiona Gabbert
Professor of Applied Psychology & Director of the Forensic Psychology Unit at Goldsmiths, University of London
Fiona’s research explores the suggestibility of memory and best practices in investigative interviewing, with a focus on improving the usability, credibility, and reliability of witness evidence. Her work has influenced policies and procedures internationally, leading to the development of evidence-based tools such as the Self-Administered Interview, the Structured Interview Protocol, and the Timeline Technique. Fiona collaborates widely with practitioners and policymakers to embed effective interviewing practices in the field. Recent initiatives include working with the UK College of Policing to design new Authorised Professional Practice guidelines for frontline officers, and contributing to the International Advisory Council on the Mendez Principles—establishing global standards for non-coercive interviewing and procedural safeguards.
