Dr Jess Miller

Dr Jess Miller is a neuropsychologist, University of Cambridge and author of the book, The Policing Mind: Trauma Resilience for a New Era. She is on the Senior Leaders’ Board for Emergency Responders at The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and was one of the only expert voices to feature in The Baroness Casey Review into the standards of behaviour and internal culture of the Metropolitan Police Service. Her work is also cited in the Policing Productivity Review 2023, permeates much guidance from The College of Policing and Police National Wellbeing Service and has featured on numerous documentaries and national news articles since her 2020 publication revealed that 1 in 5 serving police have Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Her work has global reach and yet is targeted at a local level to reflect the impact of working culture on individual psychology and resilience. Jess’ background includes 20 years working around policing, emergency response and the military. Specialisms include high-risk roles in Counter Terrorism, Child Sexual Exploitation and Family Liaison. Jess has recently volunteered to support psychological wellbeing for the RNLI and those working with Afghan officers and families from Op Pitting
