Police Resettlement
Dr Jones and Stuart Noble a retired Chief Superintendent developed the PLP to support police leavers transition successfully into civilian life. The partnership is supported by the police staff associations, Police Federation England and Wales (PFEW), Police Superintendents Association (PSA), Chief Police Officers Staff Association (CPOSA) and the College of Policing, National Police Wellbeing Service (NPWS). We developed the PLP from several years of delivering resettlement programmes to support police officers and staff leaving the service; including the Resilient Senior Leaders Programme (RESLEAPS), supported by the PSA and funded by Movember. The programme won the Association of Business Psychology Excellence in Health and Wellbeing award 2022. It has been delivered in some of the largest police forces in UK. We also developed the Police Leavers Toolkit for NPWS to support all ranks of officers and staff leaving policing. Our Successful Transition And Resettlement Programme (STAR) is being delivered to Chief Officers supported by CPOSA. Our programmes are evidence based, from over 50 interviews with officers and the results of the National Police Leavers Survey, commissioned by NPWS. Our programmes and research supports the Home Office National Police Covenant, Police Leavers work package.
