National Public Contact Portfolio Lead - NPCC

David Jackson is a seasoned leader in Police Contact, Command and Control, with more than three decades of frontline and strategic experience. He began his career in 1990 with Nottinghamshire Police as police staff and concluded his service in 2022 as a Chief Superintendent in the Metropolitan Police.

Throughout his career, David has served in Force Control Rooms and Public Contact functions at every rank and grade. Most recently, he led the Metropolitan Police’s Contact, Command and Control service — one of the largest and busiest operations of its kind in Europe — responsible for handling over six million emergency and non-emergency contacts each year and coordinating the deployment of officers to more than 1.6 million incidents annually. He directed a workforce of more than 1,700 employees, operating across three purpose‑built facilities, with an annual budget of £91 million.

Since retiring from the police service, David has continued to advance national capability through his work with the NPCC Public Contact Portfolio, where he leads on data, analytics, and AI opportunities. He has also supported the NPCC Response Policing Portfolio, providing insight and leadership to help deepen the national understanding of response policing performance.
