Colin qualified as a solicitor in 1978. For about forty years, he has been involved in advising and representing police officers in relation to a wide variety of criminal and misconduct matters.
Notable cases include the Stephen Waldorf shooting (1983, officer acquitted attempted murder), PC Simon Harwood (officer acquitted manslaughter), officers involved in the De Menezes shooting at Stockwell Tube Station, the Sean Rigg investigation and, more recently, the TSG “Bianca Williams” case, and the representation of PS Martyn Blake (acquitted murder 2024).
Colin has participated in training with Federation Representatives over many years in relation to a wide variety of topics, and, more recently, has provided inputs extensively in relation to a number of courses run both by the Police Federation, and the Military, in relation to Post Incident Procedures.
He is also part of a legal team currently involved in a Judicial Review relating to vetting procedures, and has been called upon to contribute and assist in submissions on behalf of the Federation in connection with a number of national policing issues over the years.
