Cmdr Dan Ivey

Commander Dan Ivey is a Chief Officer leading the Metropolitan Police Service’s Directorate of Professional Standards, based at New Scotland Yard. He also serves nationally as the UK NPCC lead for police uniform, body armour, self‑defence and restraint, shaping standards and ensuring that officers across the country are equipped and protected to the highest level.  He is leading a new project on a new standardised National Police Uniform as part of a “Future Uniform” concept which aims to utilise learning from the public and private sectors maximising new and emerging technologies.

Starting his career in Devon and Cornwall Police, Dan has more recently held extensive command roles across London, including senior positions in the West End of central London, Brixton and Southwark and leading the Met’s Special Operations, Command & Control Room functions, where he oversaw transformation in public contact, emergency response and workforce leadership across one of the busiest policing environments in the country. He is also one of the Met’s senior Public Order Commanders.

As part of the Met’s Chief Officer Team in Professional Standards, he currently plays a key role in strengthening integrity, culture and accountability across the organisation.
