Adam Getty

Adam Getty is the Psychological Services Lead for Police Care UK and is a BABCP accredited CBT Therapist and EMDR Europe Accredited Consultant, based in Northern Ireland. 

Having qualified as a CBT Therapist in 2013, Adam spent two years working in two NHS IAPT services in England before returning to NI in 2015 to take up a psychological therapist role with the Police Rehabilitation and Retraining Trust - working with serving and retired police officers, and their families.

From 2019-2021 he worked for the Regional Trauma Network - a newly formed trauma service setup in Northern Ireland due to the high levels of trauma in the country – before  working in a private health care facility for individuals with complex trauma presentations. 

Adam is trained in EMDR – a therapy utilised to help those living with trauma symptoms - and is the current chair of the EMDR Ulster Committee in addition to being a board member of EMDR All Ireland. 

His  special interest is in the psychological impact of traumatic events including those in civilian and security forces.
